Villanova downs Maryland, 95-87
The Villanova Wildcats withstood several second half charges to knock off the Maryland Terrapins, 95-87.
The game, part of the BB&T Classic in Washington DC’s Verizon Center, showcased two guard-oriented teams.
It was a good matchup for Villanova, who only had to worry about 6′ 10″ freshman Jordan Williams in the paint.
The Wildcats came out on fire, hitting 11 of 22 three-point shots in the first half to take a 49-38 lead into the locker room.
Villanova cooled off in the second half, allowing Maryland to close the gap, but the Wildcats and Taylor King responded each time to increase the lead.
